With new career opportunities on our doorstep, Ben will fight for even more investment into high skilled jobs for our region building on exciting projects like our world-first STEP Fusion clean energy investment, modular nuclear and hydrogen research.

Across the region we're leading the way in exciting sectors, with huge investments in clean energy, advanced manufacturing and science industries, Ben will fight for even more investment into high skilled jobs for our region, building on exciting projects like our world-first STEP Fusion clean energy investment, modular nuclear and hydrogen research. Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have huge global businesses and internationally significant projects in clean energy, automation, manufacturing and more, our new Mayor will have funding and new powers to attract more private sector investment, improve the quality of jobs here, and ensure that local people have amazing new career opportunities.

Alongside this, we know that small businesses are the life blood of our economy, and make up the vast majority of the region's business community. Ben is clear that he will support small and independent businesses, helping them to grow and employ people, and giving life back to struggling high streets will be an absolute top priority.

He'll ensure that our business support services and grants are more relevant and tick more boxes for businesses, to make sure we're offering what's actually needed and getting the best value for that money. He'll work with private sector investors to sort out derelict town centre buildings and bring them back in to use, helping to modernise the high street with new leisure, services and residential properties to help support the shops. He'll improve public transport to town centres and business parks, helping people to access employment and making town centres more accessible. He'll work with businesses to tackle skills shortages, and make sure that the voice of small business is part of the decision making process when it comes to our economic policy in the East Midlands.

If Ben is elected Mayor, we'll work to make this the most business-friendly place there is, and the best place for investors to put their money anywhere in the UK.
