Throughout this contest it's been clear that Ben Bradley is the only candidate who has the experience and the understanding of this devolution deal, and is the only candidate that will do the job effectively.
Ben says: "It's easy to give 60 second soundbites in a hustings, or to come up with a paragraph for a leaflet. Its easy to say 'this is rubbish and I will do it better'. But it's much harder to actually understand the issues and the detail of how all this needs to work.
"So unlike any other candidate, I'm prepared to get in to the detail, and to not just say 'I'll fix it' but to explain how we do that. I reached out to former BBC Political Editor Tony Roe, and I volunteered for a grilling from one of our most experienced and well thought of local journalists.
"There was no script. No edit. I did not get the questions in advance. We spoke for 30 minutes and Tony tested my knowledge and understanding of these services, and the role of the Mayor.
"No other candidate will do this. No other candidate has the knowledge or experience either of the services that the Mayor will control, or of the way this new Combined Authority will work, to test themselves in public like this.
"Whilst they appeared recently to stand in the election, I have years of experience of negotiating this deal and building this organisation, and of working to overcome the challenges in our transport and economic development in the region. Regardless of party politics, it's absolutely vital we get a Mayor who knows what they're doing!"
